Homemade Furniture Polish for our Tipsy Tuesday

I remember wondering once upon a time if there was a Homemade furniture polish I could put together to avoid a trip to the store. Then I called my father, who usually has an answer for almost all my questions. He said do you have Olive Oil? Which I replied

 "Dad I'm not cooking, I'm trying to clean"

He sure teach me a thing or two that day, The many uses to Olive were endless and here is one which is sure to leave your furniture looking polish and smelling good.

1 cup olive oil

1/2 cup lemon juice

 New Spray Bottle

Whenever I use this mixture on my furniture, I love using a microfiber cloth, it makes my job 10 times easier, because it helps with the dirt pick up. With this Homemade Furniture Polish you will feel at ease that you are not exposing your family to chemicals; Its not only environmentally-friendly, but its also great for your pocket. Here is an extra tip, if you are into using Essential Oils like myself. You can use 2 drops of Lemon Essential oil for the 1 cup of Olive Oil and it will also do the trick with this one, I have found that the smell stays longer and its more powerful.

Disconnect to Reconnect

I believe that all homes suffer a level of disconnection because our electronic relationships seem to take priority.  Don't get me wrong, there is a place and a time for our social upkeep.  Some of us make a living from our social integrations. But,how many times have we been at a family function where several members, while seated next to each other, hardly speak a word because their faces are all lit up with the hypnotic glow of the hand held phone screen?I've seen it, and have been guilty of it too.

And then on the other side.  How many young lives have been frustrated with a parent or grandparent who is unable to give full attention to the wanting child? Why?  Because someone said something new on our Facebook page?  Or there is a deep discussion happening on the screens of our phone that has our full attention?

This may be dating myself, but I remember a time when there were colored bars and a high pitched sound on the Television screen if we turned it on to early in the morning.  We had to wait before Mr. Roger's neighborhood came on.  Or that the Television station would actually turn to a screen full on noisy fuzz  after a period of time at night.  It was time to go to bed.  Or when the first Atari video games came around.  There was no such thing as unlimited lifetimes. When you died, your turn was over.  Unless someone pushed the reset button.

Now days everything it seems is limitless.  Everything that is, except the precious missed times of connecting with and enjoying activities  and conversations that make memories priceless.  And connect us to our friends and family members. Technology can help us record even better now,the stepping stones of our children life.  But then we miss other things because our face is glued in the screen updating our Facebook statues or Tweeting about it.  What is the message we are sending to our observing, learning and growing children?   

My husband shared some statistics with me that illustrate our electronic timeline.

"I still remember when we had only three TV stations. Then, there was the explosion of cable TV in the early 80's.  Then, the expansion to 100's of channels in the 90's.  Then, the ability of the Internet in the palm of our hands in the 2000's."

As we can see, times have changes.  But, their is a power in turning off the electronics and turn on our attention to those around us who's lives are constantly changing.

I have a challenge for all SuperMoms out there.  Let's make it a priority to "Disconnect" from our electronics and "Reconnect" more with our loved ones.  It will make a difference in our homes and in our families.  It's the memories that matters most.

I Married SuperMan!!

I Just have to share....the other night, I just happen to glance over my events of the upcoming day.  Needless to say it was a triple-booked eventful kind of day.  Feeling overwhelmed and under pressure, I verbally expressed my concerns of accomplishing all I needed to do and be successful with my time.....when my HERO appeared, tall and strong with hair blowing in the wind; and said in his deep, powerful voice, "I'll take care of what ever you need me to!"  My heart beat strong as I exhaled in pure admiration and relief...."My HERO!"

You see, being a SuperMom has it's limits and we have all been there.  Even though my HERO can't do everything for me, his acceptance of my not being absolutely perfect and having my own personal Kryptonite's in life: helps give me more power to endure, and eventually conquer what ever stands in my way.
He believes in me and loves for my flaws, and I feel invincible.  Because of him believing in me, I know I can become who he see me to be.  I Married SuperMan, because I am SuperMom!

Motivational Monday on Happiness

It is said that Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if you only remember to turn on the light. Does this really mean that by switching on a light we will have happiness all around? In which case we would walk around with portable lamps and flashlights. Thankfully it is not so. we must turn on our interior light, the very light that brings about happiness and that spark we carry within all of us. Children are born with this very light. No one teaches a child to smile, laugh or be happy. It is something we are all born with. A feeling that fills our soul with joy, contentment, excitement, peace, accomplishment, fulfilment, hope, positiveness and over all well being.

I often find myself reminding my children and even my own self that 

Happiness Is A Choice We Make

We can choose to be happy regardless of any situation we can be facing.

A way to find happiness is to center all your energy on all that is good in your life.  Two things will come about, not only will you find more happiness, but you will also attract more of it your way.

I have also found that the happiest I have ever felt has been in moments of service, by reaching out to someone who might be going through a difficult time, by sharing some knowledge or even giving advice. It is been in the giving and not in the receiving. This kind of Happiness through service its one that we often disregard in our own homes.
SuperMoms serve day by day, non stop. From fixing meals, to keeping our homes nice and clean, to comforting our little ones when they get hurt, encouraging them and being their biggest support. Yes ladies, this is  also consider service and it can bring an abundant amount of happiness if only we let it!

Surround yourself with positive people and uplifting music. Stop comparing your life to others, I have found that the happiest of people struggle and have many trials, but understand that being happy is a choice. So I encourage you to let your happiness and inner light be so contagious that you make others happy also.

The Power of SuperMoms!

After cleaning up the kitchen, making meals and snacks, scrubbing spilled carpet stains, sweeping floors, working on laundry.  Motivating kids as patiently as one can, to help with house chores;  And then to find the places you have just cleaned have been undone right behind your back. 

 Plus you have broken up sibling fights for the umpteenth time.  The dog has nipped after growling as a warning for several minutes from the teasing of the children. 

You lock yourself in the bathroom just to catch a breather alone to hear *knock knock knock* "MOM!"*knock, knock*"MOMMMY!!"

The family sits down to a nice quiet dinner, only to have drinks spilled, food complaints, whining and tears for one reason or another.

Later the clock on the wall and the stars outside says your day is done. 

It's time for bed and you are barely making it through reading to the children in bed without talking in your sleep about Goldie Locks and the Pink-Polka-Dotted Elephants. 

 Giving final hugs and kisses then crawling to the bedroom in a blind military style to the holy bed before you! 

 Collapsing in exhaustion only to awaken and do it all over again.

How many times do we find yourself wondering "Is it all worth it?  Am I really making a difference? Does anyone even care?"

But then we get sweet gentle reminders, someone precious See's you for all the perfect glory that you don't.  

Someone believes you could fly into he air at the slightest sound of a cry for help. Who knows you would stop a train to save a child on the tracks. Someone knows that your magical kiss heals everything!

Since embracing the concept of being a SuperMom my children see me differently.  

In fact they remind me more often that... I can do it!  After all....I AM SuperMom!  

My son loves to write our SMT logo on papers. he has made me many posters with SMT. 

 When times are frustrating he will say "It's O.K. cause your SuperMom!"  

So, If I am SuperMom, what does that make him?  But of course....SUPERMAN!

And then just like SuperMan had a choice to make,  through the loving influence of his parents, believing in him even when the rest of the world thought there was no place just right for him.  because of that, he use his gifts and talents to protect people and do his best to stand for Freedom.  Knowing that not everyone will support him and that he would come face to face with many challenges some even life threatening.  But knowing what he is doing is right no matter the fight.  

We are SuperMomTested because life's tests make us who we are meant to be so we can raise a stronger more powerful influential and confident generation.

  So, YES, it's all worth it.  And our children do care.  Our children look to us to be the SuperMoms in their lives,
